I'm trying to load an image onto a newer PC using Ghost 7.5. This PC has a 120GB SATA drive.
When I started the image load, it was going very slow. 8mb per minute vs 300+. Also, the drive light was almost constant on. Checked on Symantec's website and found out that if you have 7.5 and a mixture of IDA and SATA devices to run ghost with the -FNI command switch (you can also set it in the GUI if you wish).
Tried it and it solved the issue. The system is blasting down at 300+ mb/sec now.
Was about to actually undertake the task of imaging 20 new DELLs with SATA drives...this info will definitely help

Hi Everyone, just want to share my experience.
I tried ghosting a HP Compaq DC 7100 but failed. After running ghost, my pc just hangs at the command line and i went for lunch, when i was back, its still hanging -_-'.
After surfing around the net, i realized the problem could be because my PC was using SATA HDD and my usual 'a:\ghost\ghost' command will not work. Luckily, I stumbled upon this thread and tried 'a:\ghost\ghost -fni' and i managed to see the About Symantec Ghost grey screen. I'm starting to love the color grey.
Cheers, Yang.

You can also use gparted to ghost and copy a drive for free (for those of us who are a little more on the broke side)
