I've been on friendfeed for almost a year now and have been fairly active on it.
For those on Twitter and other media sites, here's what you are missing.

The conversations that you have on friendfeed just aren't possible with Twitter. Twitter is ok if you just want to talk about what you are doing, but beyond that it's pretty much useless.
friendfeed is about having conversations with as many people as possible.
Anyhow, the thread I linked to is just one example of why I like it better than sliced bread.
I enjoy FriendFeed much more than Twitter. On FriendFeed, as you stated, you are able to have conversations. Twitter is good for broadcasting or listening (if you follow a few people). I discover the best information from FriendFeed compared to Twitter.
